The familiar platform scale has an Achilles heel - the cable that connects it to the indicator can become a hazard or a nuisance in some applications.

The incorporation of a wireless telemetry system into the platform scale housing is a simple solution that allows the scale to be monitored from a distance. The power supply for the platform scale load cell and the wireless telemetry system is supplied by a battery pack.

The wireless telemetry system needs to have power saving capabilities such as sleep and wake functionality so that battery life can be extended to convenient lengths.

Multiple wireless platform scales can be monitored using a single hand held indicator such as the Mantracourt model TDM. The selection of the scale that is being monitored is made by selecting an identifier from a list that is held in the memory of the hand held display.
